All Jersey Pottery ceramics are dishwasher, microwave and ovenproof but the exact safe conditions for use will depend on whether the Jersey Pottery piece you have is Stoneware, Porcelain, Earthenware or Bone China.

Stoneware is very strong and vitrified (the surface is glassy and non-porous) which gives it strength, durability and chip resistance. It can be safely used in the dishwasher and we recommend using low temperatures and liquid detergent. It can be used in microwave and conventional ovens for cooking and reheating food, and in the freezer for storing food.

Porcelain is similar in strength to stoneware. It has a more translucent body and is naturally a blue-grey white. It can be safely used in the dishwasher and we recommend using low temperatures and liquid detergent. It can be used in microwave and conventional ovens for cooking and reheating food, and in the freezer for storing food.

Bone China is more delicate looking and generally finer than porcelain yet it is very strong. It is made from bone ash, china clay and china stone. Jersey Pottery Bone China is pure white and translucent. It can be safely used in the dishwasher and we recommend using low temperatures and liquid detergent. It can be used in microwave and conventional ovens for cooking and reheating food, and in the freezer for storing food.

Earthenware is elegant and refined but more care must be taken as it chips more readily than Stoneware, Porcelain and Bone China. It can be safely used in the dishwasher and we recommend using low temperatures and liquid detergent. It can be used in the microwave for cooking and reheating food, and in the freezer for storing food. It is oven safe to a maximum of 100°C for reheating, but not suitable for cooking. Do not leave Earthenware products soaking in water and ensure they are fully dry before stacking and putting away in cupboards. Earthenware naturally absorbs water on unglazed sections such as the foot and this can lead to discoloration and mold growth if not fully dry before storing.

Please note that all pottery and china can crack if exposed to sudden changes in temperature, no matter how strong it is, so please don’t take items from the freezer and put them straight into the oven or microwave.
