Jersey Pottery Show Raw Ambition With Latest Expansion
07 August 2007
Jersey Pottery is proving once again it is at the forefront of the catering industry by announcing the launch of its new Sushi Bar. With the arrival of highly qualified Sushi Chef, Richard Cicero Mico, the Sushi Bar is the first of its kind in Jersey.
Following a national trend which has seen Sushi Bars boom in popularity in the last couple of years, the company is delighted to introduce fresh sushi and sashimi to Jersey residents. The bar is located at the Jersey Pottery Noodle Bar in Colomberie and will be run by top sushi chef Richard Cicero Mico who was head hunted from Fairmont Hotel in Dubai to oversee its creation.
Commenting on the venture, Director Robert Jones believes residents and visitors will embrace the sushi experience: “We wanted to have a very open sushi bar, so that people can see their food being prepared whilst they wait,” he said. “The secret to good sushi is to use the freshest ingredients. Because it is prepared on the spot, the food is always vibrant and delicious. Most of the people using our cafes at lunchtime in St Helier are working in banks or offices and the great thing about sushi is that, being so light, it doesn’t give you that ‘afternoon slump’ often experienced after a heavy meal. At Jersey Pottery, we don’t rest on our laurels and are always looking to provide our customers with diversity and choice.”
The menu devised by Richard includes all the classic sushi selections as well as a few of his own creations. Tuna, salmon, prawn, eel, octopus, scallop and mackerel are used for popular sushi dishes such as Sashimi, Nigiri and Gunkan. There is also a vegetarian option with vegetable, cucumber and avocado rolls available.
The health benefits of sushi are recognised as more people in the Western world question their traditional diet and look for healthier alternatives. The low-fat combination of fresh fish, rice and vegetables has been identified as a key factor in Japan’s history of long life and fitness.
The sushi experience is also available for corporate clients. One major bank has already signed up for staff to enjoy a team-building sushi event. Being introduced to the strict routine of preparing sushi, employees will work in teams to deliver their own sushi creations, under the watchful eye of Richard, reinforcing teamwork and discipline throughout, coupled with a fun introduction to healthy Asian Cuisine. - Ends-
