Jersey Pottery to open Oyster Box Restaurant and Spinnaker’s Café in St Brelade’s Bay
04 June 2007
Jersey Pottery has today announced plans to open the Oyster Box and a second Spinnakers Family Restaurant with a large alfresco area on the beachfront in St Brelade’s Bay, on the site of the Boardwalk café. The café will continue to be operated by the current owners until 12th October, Jersey Pottery then plan to refurbish the site this winter and open the Oyster Box and Spinnakers café in spring 2008
Oyster Box will be a casual restaurant with a similar offering to The Castle Green over looking Grouville bay, but with a much greater emphasis on our wonderful local seafood; however most tastes will be catered for.
Spinnakers Café will be a family offering similar to the existing one at Jersey Pottery in Gorey, but the play area will be the beautiful white sandy beach. Children’s parties don’t have to be lavish affairs, when you can have good old fashion beach time building castles or drawing pictures in the sand followed by some wholesome party food.
Making the most of the location, the Oyster Box plans to develop beach sports leagues. Starting with evening and weekend beach cricket leagues, corporate teams will be invited to compete for the “Oyster Box Trophy,” a fun quick cricket tournament. We also intend to invite cricket celebrities to play in an end of season game next year.
There are plans to also encourage other sports such as touch rugby, softball and Frisbee. The leagues will be run by the Oyster Box Beach Club, administrated through a website, managing regular family entertainments for tide down fun. There will be opportunities for corporate team-building exercises, with all the great catering facilities associated with the Jersey Pottery brand.
Jersey Pottery Director, Robert Jones said, “we are delighted to make this Oyster Box and Spinnakers café announcement and are excited about the opportunities for creating a catering offer which is fun for everyone and contemporary in style and appeal. We are passionate about quality food and produce and look forward to trading in the heart of St Brelade’s Bay, creating activity sessions which complement the local community, allowing residents and visitors to make the best use of the natural environment. The Oyster Box reflects the ongoing changes we are seeing in the traditional tourism market with a shift to quality rather than quantity. In line with the ongoing investment in the 4/5 star market, we are confident Oyster Box will quickly become a favourite part of the beautiful St Brelade’s Bay.” - ENDS
