Jersey Pottery WineSpeak range wins Gift of the Year Award
25 June 2007

Jersey Pottery is celebrating the news that their WineSpeak range has won the prestigious Gift of the Year title, in the UK Giftware Association’s annual Gift of the Year Awards.  The range was short listed for the Association’s Collect-It category, for products that, as a unique piece, or part of a range, and considered collectables.

Gift of the Year Awards are only given to the latest, most original and innovatively designed products that can be given as gifts. However, entrants also have to demonstrate that the product is commercially viable. Jersey Pottery achieved that, with the range forming part of their new distribution agreement and strategic partnership signed with Dartington Crystal in April, which will see distribution of the products into 400 new outlets across the UK.

The Gift of the Year awards took place during last week’s Summer Fair at the ExCeL centre in London.  The Summer Fair is one of the UK’s biggest, and London’s largest, presentations of gift and home fashion, with more than 600 exhibitors featuring over 2000 ranges.

Jonathan Jones, Director of Jersey Pottery, believes the quirkyness and humorous tones of the range, coupled with competitive UK RRP’s were a major element in their success.   “This is the coming of age for Jersey Pottery.  The awards are extremely important in our industry and will ensure Jersey Pottery products will now be recognised by the majority of the top buyers from the UK’s well-known department and independent stores.”

“Following the Awards, the Jersey Pottery stand was especially busy, with orders being taken at a level never seen before.  We are anticipating huge export orders in the run up to Christmas which is obviously great news for our business but also for the Jersey Export Initiative.”

Interview opportunity:

Jonathan Jones, Director of Jersey Pottery, is now back in Jersey following the Summer Fair and would be delighted to undertake any interviews required.  Please contact Sam Watts at Orchid Communications to discuss further.
